San Francisco Recorder Society September Playing Session
Tom Bickley, conductor for this session
The topic is Canons. These are familiar to us via Row Row Row Your Boat, etc., and have a great deal more nuance and complexity than those simple rounds we know from childhood. We'll begin with Exploring Canons to experience ways of folding melodies back onto themselves in various ways, then enjoy examples from late Medieval times, as well as one of my own canonic transformations of the Browning tune, and William Cornysh's Ah Robin.
